| I gave a rather abbreviated introduction myself. My name is Chase. I specialize in militaria, which I've been doing since I enlisted in the USMC when I was 17, back in '69. I've been programming computers since I was 15. I've worked for the US military and NATO for 10 years in the USMC and the Army after the war. I then went to work for several defense contractors, writing software for the Cruise Missile program, Posiedon and Trident nuke subs, and the AEGIS surface warfare systems until 1992 when it suddenly became no fun anymore. I retired. I've been doing internet since it was DARPA (ARPANet) and been active in commercial online since 1995. I discovered online auctions in 1998 and it's been sell, sell, sell, buy, sell ever since. I'm a grandfather of one of each, and the father of the most perfect daughter a man could have. | I'm janice142 (one of me earning for the two of us)... it's just the Kidlet and I now, plus Mother (who has Alzheimer's). This is what I do (sell online)... and I stitch (cross stitch, drawn thread, hardanger, some hand quilting) plus I do some technical support (software / VERY basic stuff) :) and I did/do so enjoy Voyager (StarTrek) so I'm waiting for the show to come out on DVD, though I do have every book thus far written in the series too. (drums fingers on table and wonders when MY show will be offered) We watch tons of DVDs around here. The ones we like, we keep. Others get listed. Christmas is my favorite holiday (for the music)... bored yet? I'll hush. I've learned tons of website stuff from the real experts here, and have tried to apply what will work for me on my own site. I appreciate the knowledge so many have shared with me as I learn.... | |

this site is puff Live in central NY with hubby, and 2 cocker spaniels. Raised 4 mine, plus 3 step children, and grandparents to 10 grandsons. I have had quite a few different jobs in my lifetime, but am the happiest when I work for myself. Hubby is a body man painter now for 16 yrs, and works in a factory that builds firetrucks. And I am addicted to the computer :) |

My hobbies are Classic Computers (pre-1981 or so), classical piano, ham radio, and ARDF. I've been a member of the US ARDF team (see me page) since it was first formed in 1998 and have "competed" ... okay attended :), the ARDF World Championships since 1998. I basically am a packrat, and have a tough time selling stuff because, ..., well I don't know why, but I do :). Piece of advice I never follow ... Don't collect things because they will end up collecting you! | |

| I missed the introductions yesterday, so I guess now is
as good a time as any to introduce myself for those that don't already
know me. My name is Barry, 43 years old, Married with no children. I've been working auctions since I was 7 years old. I worked the table and worked the crowd from 7 on up and was calling auctions when I was a teenager. I was a dealer before I could drive selling about everything from tombstones to rattlesnakes. I've been self-employed all my life except for about 4 years...Never did like a job and couldn't ever figure out why anyone would want one. I tried it once and didn't like it. And if you guys look at my pic on mypage, you can probably tell with my long hair and beard, I probably couldn't get one even if I did want one, which I don't. I've sold antiques, furniture and glassware by the 24ft truckload, opened my own auction house and started auctioneering. I'm still a licensed auctioneer in the state of GA. although I no longer do any auctioning other than online (but I haven't forgotten how) I starting in electronics simply because electronics was easier to get in quantity. (did I mention I'm lazy) and been selling electronics for the last few years but still buy and collect good pottery and glassware. I currently have over 200 peices of older fenton which is my wife's favorite. |

| Ahem::::Introduction::::...Dennis Here...I am an old (almost 59) mortgage broker from L.A...I came up in business from the consumer finance business in the late sixties and early seventies and then got into real estate loans. Before that I was a bartender for my Dad at a restaurant and club he owned in Gardena, CA. I have lived in North San Diego for fifteen years, single but opening up to possibilities and am taking courses for awareness about myself and living to maximum effectiveness. I operate my own real estate company and serve my clients well I believe. I am healthy, basically happy and very much alive. I love the DNF and now SYI community. Oh, and I am usually the resident spellchecker!...lol...glad to meet the folks I do not know up til' now and glad you know me a little better too...:-) | |

| I´m Sabine from Good Ole Germany... guess what my last
name is (J/K). The Ertl-family has 4 members: KH which stands for
Karl-Heinz (pleeze, never ever call him just "Karl"), 2 cats (Mäuschen
and Tommy) and me. I´m 46 and had to give up my job 2 years ago due to
health probs, playing around since then. Last year I did attend a computer
class... more playing around since then ;-). We have been selling on auction sites since late 1997 as we like to share our hobby with others, and we made many new friends from all over the world this way. What do we collect... mainly so-called "kinder toys"... kinder eggs are hollow chocolate eggs with a yellow capsule inside holding a toy to assemble or a hard-plastic figurine. These chocolate eggs are available nowadays in many countries except the US due to the regulations on toys w small parts for children under 3. Don´t start to collect them... they are highly addictive !!! |

| I've enjoyed reading about everyone so will do the same. I'm Cathy, I'm 52, took early retirement from my job of 27 years and just putz with sales on the internet now. Hubby will retire at the end of this year and we're planning to move from Iowa to Arizona. We have 2 kids, daughter 32 is married and has given us 2 beautiful granddaughters, son is 26 and is engaged to be married one of these days. I mostly sell antiques and have collected all my life, love estate auctions. We also like hiking, biking, skiing, walking, playing games and spending time with our family and friends. | |

In keeping with the spirit... My name is Phil... I lurk here a lot but don't post as much as I used to... in RL I am self employed and only do the auction stuff for fun... Found eBay in late 1977 when all the servers were lizards of some sort... and registered there in July 1998... came over here on Day 1 and stopped listing at eBay at the same time... their feedback fiasco of Spring 2001 was the breaking point for me... it stopped being fun and I don't do this for anything but... I am married... 30 years now... A couple kids... one of each... that's 2, Chris :^)... one granddaughter... see my MyPage for a picture of the "Center of the Known Universe"... A couple of cats, one of which lives in the house, one which comes up to the house to eat... and a few (don't have any idea how many actually) which apparently live in the barns and sneak up at night to eat... have a barn full of stuff to be listing.. |

Contrary to popular belief, I DON'T work for SYI, although I'm heavily involved in Club99SYI so maybe that's where that rumor got started. :D DH & I live in a rural town on top of a mountain in Northern California, and we love it here! We have a small but growing chocolates business. I've sold stuff at TOP for awhile and wanted to try selling the chocolates online, but decided to start fresh and come to SYI. It's worked out really well... the SYI community is the best! and the SYI PTB are super responsive! ... and now I finally know what "DNF" means LOL! Life is good! |
